Montserrat Nicasio

Montserrat Nicasio is a recent graduate of Manhattan College, where she earned a double major in Political Science and Psychology. During her time at Manhattan, she served on student government, participated as a dedicated delegate in three Model United Nations conferences, and cultivated a deep commitment to public service, particularly in support of incarcerated individuals and their communities. Her interest in justice was profoundly shaped by her experience in The Politics and Ethics of Mass Incarceration, a course held on Rikers Island Jail. This experience reinforced her belief in the necessity of abolishing the carceral system not only in New York, but globally.

As an Administrative Assistant at Witness to Mass Incarceration, Montserrat brings strong organizational and communication skills to support the organization’s mission. She is dedicated to advancing equity and dignity for those impacted by incarceration through community-centered work and advocacy.
